Recently uninstalled Acronis True Image 10 software due to program failure to restore.
Now on computer startup before Windows even attempts to load, I get this message across the top of the black screen,
«Acronis Loader fatal error: Boot Drive Partition not found. Press «enter» to try to load your OS.»
After pressing ‘enter,’ system boots up and runs with no problems.
Anyone know where this message is originating from and how to get rid of it?
thanks,
Phil

Sounds like something in your Boot.ini file.
Have you look at it to see if it still has Acronis boot info?
What OS are you running?

You can go to Start/Run and type in services.msc and hit Enter…
Then uncheck anything related to Acronis…this will stop the message.
But it sounds like it wasn’t un-installed properly….did you read their Help file ? ?

First, thanks to all of you for replies.
I had used Acronis for the past year, or so, for backups on two computers. Was actually able to restore the desktop with no problems, but when I tried restoring my laptop, kept getting «files corrupted» on the ext HD. Contacted support but got no reply so out of sheer disgust, I used the Acronis «uninstall» and removed it. From reading your forums, some residual Acronis files are indeed left behind, but I’m not sure where to find them . Did the «Start/Run» and ‘enter’ but no Acronis files appear. Keep in mind, this error message displays almost immediately after initialization/power up and well before Windows starts loading.
Anyway, hate to post something too large but here’s my file . . .

I see nothing from Acronis. You may check Boot.ini file as Spoiler suggested.

Did you disable the items in services.msc as i suggested ? ?

Sorry, Patio, forgot to mention I did try the start/run entry you suggested but no entries there for Acronis, either. Also noticed my Acronis version is 9 and not 10.
My «uninstall» instructions said to use the Windows Uninstall program. Usually don’t like to do that but no uninstall came with the program.
Also searched for the boot.ini file. Where’s that exist?
Did a search for «boot» * and none of the boot files came up boot.ini
Thanks,
Phil

Did you enable hidden, and system files view?

Thanks again.
boot.ini search even in hidden files revealed nothing.
Will check out the Acronis forum the end of the week (got a few 12 hour shifts in front of me). Might try to re-install and see if there are some fixes, etc and/or «uninstall» per their guidance.

Go Start>Run, type in:
msconfig
Click OK.
msconfig should have boot.ini tab

Thanks,
boot.ini found but nothing there with Acronis in it.
