Red Hats can be found throughout the Port level hub and be bought for LEGO Studs earned throughout the
game to unlock Extra Abilities. These abilities can then be turned on or off in the game menu under ‘Extra’. (You can also enter cheats here) There are 20 Red Hats in all and they are:
- Always Double Treasure: an extra double to treasure
- Breathe Underwater: lets all characters not lose health when underwater
- Character Treasure: Releases studs upon defeating minifigs
- Disguises: Makes all minifigs in entire game wear glasses with attached large nose and handlebar mustache
- Extra hearts: Adds two hearts to your health bar
- Extra Toggle: Extra characters to play as
- Fall Rescue: When you fall into some depth, you’re put back on the closest safe ground
- Fast Build: Builds faster
- Fast Dig: Characters dig faster.
- Fast Forge: Makes the hammer ability faster
- Minikit Bottle Finder: Indicates minikit bottle locations and locations of items needed to unlock them with white arrows
- Invincibility: Makes characters immune
- Red Hat Finder: Indicates red hat locations in the hub with red arrows
- Regenerate Hearts: Regain lost health over time
- Treasure magnet: Studs get attracted to you when you’re close to them, but further away than normal
- Treasure x#: Get more worth for your studs. These can be used together to get more multiple studs, i.e. unlock and activate Treasure x2 & Treasure x6 at once and you get Treasure x12. Also usable in combination with Always Double Treasure.
After buying a red hat, sometimes the next time you come by its location there is a purple stud in its place.
How to get them
The below instructions are meant for those who have trouble finding some hats. But half the fun is finding these for yourself. Some of these require special character Abilities.
- Always Double Treasure: When unlocking the gate left to the main docks, there are two cannons, use a torch to fire them at the off-shore targets, when you hit all 3 targets this red hat appears. cost: 600,000 studs
- Breathe Underwater: Using an underwater walker with bombs/blunderbuss to blow up the metallic objects under the pier where the level maps are located, when you destroy all three, making Jolly Rogers appear this hat becomes available. cost: 250,000 studs
- Character Treasure: After unlocking the gate left to the level map docks, in the building with the clock tower blow up the three barrels with shiny metal lids behind the bar. cost: 150,000 studs
- Disguises: After unlocking the golden gate to the right of the chapter maps behind the watchtower there’s a barrel of dynamite, use a nearby torch to blow it up and find this hat. cost: 25,000 studs
- Extra hearts: Using an underwater walker with bombs/blunderbuss to blow up the metallic objects under water along the left-hand wall at the end of the pier where the level maps are located, across the water on the beach, use the wheel to raise the platforms from the water, use a double-jumper to reach the levers on the wall to make this hat appear. cost: 500,000 studs
- Extra Toggle: After unlocking the gate left from the level map docks, there’s a big building with a clock tower, on the 2nd story blow up the shiny metal skull in the archway to make this hat appear. cost: 100,000 studs
- Fall Rescue: After unlocking the gate left from the level map docks, there’s a big building with a clock tower with three targets over its archway entrances, hit these and the red hat appears in the middle one. cost: 175,000 studs
- Fast Build: Past the right gold gate from the map pier when you’ve built the lift to get on the watchtower in the first window next to the lift is this red hat. cost: 125,000 studs
- Fast Dig: Past the left gold gate all the way to the bayou, build the gold pieces after you get 24 bricks and use a barrel to raise the bridge to make this hat appear. cost: 50,000 studs
- Fast Forge: After unlocking the golden gate to the right of the chapter maps walk all the way right of the docs and use a hammer to fix the machine on the dock to make this hat appear. cost: 75,000 studs
- Invincibility: After opening Tia Dalma’s shack, destroy the red & black brick chest in the room to make this hat appear. cost: 1,000,000 studs
- Minikit Bottle Finder: Swim, walk or slide across the water from the chapter maps, chase a giant crab till it tires, mount it then ride it to the stone across from the tide poles to make this hat appear. cost: 400,000 studs
- Red Hat Finder: After unlocking the golden gate to the right of the chapter maps, use Jack’s Compass aimed at the red hat to find some flowers standing on the rocks, smash these all before they regrow to find this hat. cost: 300,000 studs
- Treasure Magnet: Swim, walk or slide across the water from the chapter maps, build the sand castle on the beach to the right when you have 24 gold bricks or more, destroy it to make this hat appear. cost: 250,000 studs
- Treasure x2: Swim, walk or slide across the water from the chapter maps, hop on all of the tidebreaker poles on the beach before the first one pops up again to make this hat appear. cost: 500,000 studs
- Treasure x4: After unlocking the inn with Blackbeard’s voodoo, shatter the glass-encased fish on the back wall to the right with a mermaid’s or bad singer’s voice and this red hat appears. cost: 1,000,000 studs
- Treasure x6: When unlocking the gate left from the main docks, there’s a well with three grey things around it, hit them and some ‘toes’ appear on them, when you hit all 3 before the toes disappear this red hat appears. cost: 1,500,000 studs
- Treasure x8: After making the Fast Dig hat appear, roll another barrel over the bridge and open Tia Dalma’s shack, destroy all the rabbit cages in the room and make this one appear. cost: 2,000,000 studs
- Treasure x10: At the top of the watchtower through the gates right from the map pier there is a telescope, use this to watch a guy on an island across the water dig up 3 crates, after which this hat appears next to the telescope. Be careful to follow the guy in your viewer or he’ll give up and you have to start over cost: 2,500,000 studs

LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean Red Hat Locations
Find all the 20 Red Hats in LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean to unlock the You May Throw My Hat achievement.
Note. You can find all these Red Hats in the Port Area outside of the main story levels.
Red Hat #1 – Fast Build
Price: 125,000
You can Build objects much faster with Fast Build.
Location: You can find it in Tia Dalma’s shack over the bridge on the far left.
Red Hat #2 – Fast Forge
Price: 75,000
You can Fix Red hot objects faster with Fast Forge.
Location: Take the right path till the end, now you will spot some gears at the very end of the walkway, fix it by using your hammer. Once you have fixed the water will raise on the right and red hat will surface.
Red Hat #3 – Fast Dig
Price: 50,000
You can Dig Faster with Fast Dig.
Location: Take the left main port gate and go all the way to the water. Build golden bricks here, use the nearby barrels on the newly created barrel switch and raise the bridge. The Red Hat will appear on the right.
Red Hat #4 – Invincibility
Price: 1,000,000
Invincibility makes you invincible.
Location: You can find in the same room where you found the 8X multiplier. You will need Blackbeard to destroy the red box in the left corner of the room to get this Hat.
Red Hat #5 – Fall Rescue
Price: 175,000
Fall Rescue rescues you when you fall off a ledge. You will be picked up safe and can resume without dying.
Location: Take the left yellow colored gate of the port, and shoot the three targets you come across right across the cannons.
Red Hat #6 – Regenerate Hearts
Price: 275,000
Regenerate Hearts regenerates Health over a period of time.
Location: Go down the ladder from the main port area and swim towards the screen. Swim past the treasure magnet and continue to the right side of the beach and you will spot another set of golden legos. Build and destroy until you get the Red Hat.
Red Hat #7 – Extra Hearts
Price: 500,000
Extra Hearts extends your Health.
Location: In the main hub, you will spot two silver objects on the left under water. Take the guy with Bazooka, stay on the platforms and aim into water for silver objects. It may take a few tries before you are successful, two flower points will appear, use the female to grab the poles on the left wall to move them down to get the Red Hat.
Red Hat #8 – Red Hat Locator
Price: 300,000
Description: Puts a Red arrow on the screen that locates the missing Red Hats for you.
Location: When you go through the right gate as soon as you enter the next area, use Jacks compass and choose Red Hat and the X will point in front of you. When you walk on it, loads of flowers will pop up with the Red Hat in the middle.
Red Hat #9 – MiniKit Bottle Finder
Price: 400,000
Locates Minikit pieces for you. Points you in the direction of where you can find these with an arrow on the screen.
Location: It is at the Top of rock in middle of beach. You can get there by using Ancient Sailor with Fish to ride crab. If you can’t get to ride the crab, you will need to tire them out. They will always run away from but eventually collapse and let you ride. After that, the Hat will appear.
Red Hat #10 – Extra Toggle
Price: 100,000
Extra characters on every level but you can easily spot them making appearance on different levels.
Location: Left of the building from the Fall Rescue. Fall Rescue is in the first building you see with the three targets. Use the explosives to blast the door and find the Red Hat on the balcony of another building left to this one.
Red Hat #11 – Disguises
Price: 25,000
Lego Characters will wear disguises.
Location: Go through the right yellow gate of the port and as you go, you will spot a tower with a yellow wheel in front of it. Set the dynamite on fire with torch to get the Red Hat.
Red Hat #12 – Breathe Underwater
Price: 250,000
You can Breathe while underwater.
Location: From the main port area switch to Jacoby and jump into the water. Under water in the middle you will spot three silver objects hanging. Blow all of these hanging silver objects and Red Hat will appear.
Red Hat #13 – Treasure Magnet
Price: 225,000
Studs will be magnetically drawn to you as you walk by them.
Location: In the main port area, you will see a ladder leading away from the main level select area into the water. Swim towards the screen to find a beach in the left area. Build golden block on this beach area and then destroy them to make the Red Hat appear.
Red Hat #14 – Character Treasure
Price: 150,000
When you kill a LEGO they will drop studs.
Location: Go through the left yellow gate in the main port/level select area and continue till you reach the same building as Fall Rescue. It is the same place with the three targets on front right past the cannons you get double treasure at. Go inside this building and jump behind the bar and destroy the silver tanks in the back to make Red Hat appear.
Red Hat #15 – Double Treasure
Price: 600,000
Double’s the multiplier.
Location: Take the left yellow gate and you will spot two cannons. Use the cannons to shoot the targets to make Red Hat appear.
Red Hat #16 – Treasure X2
Price: 500,000
Adds 2X multiplier to your studs.
Location: In the main port area where you spotted treasure magnet, there are five pillars near the water in the middle. Jump on them quickly to make Red Hat appear.
Red Hat #17 – Treasure X4
Add 4X multiplier to your studs.
Price: 1,000,000
You will need Black Beard to unlock this.
Blackbeard: Just fight against the enemies in the port and you can buy them. You can also use LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean Cheats to unlock Blackbeard.
Location: Take the left golden gate and head left. You will spot a building behind the well with red and black LEGO piece blocking the way. Use Blackbeard’s power up to blast the red and black piece. Head inside and go straight up to a fish behind a glass frame. Use Philip to sing near the glass and once it breaks Treasure x4 Red Hat will appear.
Red Hat #18 – Treasure X6
Price: 1,500,000
Adds 6X multiplier to your studs.
Location: Treasure X6 is behind the left gate in the well. Just hit the silver objects around it several times and it will appear.
Red Hat #19 – Treasure X8
Price: 2,000,000
Adds 8X multiplier to your studs.
Location: Take the left main port gate and go all the way to the water. Build golden bricks here, use the nearby barrels on the newly created barrel switch and raise the bridge. Now take the available barrels across the bridge and use them on the barrel switch. This unlocks a door. Go inside and destroy some objects near the camera to unlock Red Hat.
Red Hat #20 – Treasure X10
Price: 2,500,000
Adds 8X multiplier to your studs.
Location: Go through the right main port gate to the tower with the golden wheel in front of it. Build and destroy golden bricks till you unlock an elevator. Take the elevator to the top and climb the wall. Work your way to the left till you get to a chain leading to the top of the tower.
Once on top, you will spot a spyglass. Use the spyglass to find an Island. Left of the Island, spot a girl. Keep your focus on her as she digs three times and when she is finished, the Red Hat will appear.

Red Hat #1: Disguises
Location: Tower
Price: 25,000
How to Acquire it: You need to light the fuse of the explosives in a barrel to the right of the tower.
Red Hat #2: Fast Dig
Location: Hut
Price: 50,000
How to Acquire it: You need 24 Gold Bricks. Once you have 24, rebuild the winch and use a barrel to raise the bridge to the hut. Then to the right of the Hut after raising the bridge the Fast Dig Red Hat will appear.
Red Hat #3: Fast Forge
Location: Tower
Price: 75,000
How to Acquire it: You need to repair the broken water pump at the end of the dock.
Red Hat #4: Extra Toggle
Location: Tavern
Price: 100,000
How to Acquire it: You need to blow up the silver skull lock on the upper balcony of the tavern. You can use an explosives character such as Jacoby to do this.
Red Hat #5: Fast Build
Location: Tower
Price: 125,000
How to Acquire it: You need 32 Gold Bricks to get this. Once you have 32, rebuild the pieces below the tower into a crate and destroy it. Then rebuild the destroyed pieces into an elevator. Finally use the nearby wheel and ride the elevator to get it.

About the author
Unlike other Lego games, you must find red hats, instead of bricks. There are 20 to be found and all of them are within the main hub. Some of them are easy to find, while others need some thinking about. Like other Lego games, one of the red hats can be unlocked to help you find the others.
However, you have to find this one first. So, if you do want to know where it is, or are looking for a specific one but don’t have the hat finder yet, then you can use this guide. All 20 are listed below, with where to find them and how much they cost.
Disguises
25,000
On the right hand side of the port, behind the lighthouse, is a barrel of dynamite. Blow it up to get the hat.
Fast Dig
50,000
Raise the bridge to Tia Dalma’s hut. You will need enough gold bricks to first build part of the bridge, then you will need to use a barrel to raise it.
Fast Forge
75,000
Head all the way to the right of the port, past all the minikits, and to the end of the pier. Get a character to fix the mechanism here and some barrels will be raised, revealing the red hat.
Extra Toggle
100,000
Go to the left side of the port, where all the bars are, and get up onto the top terrace of the first building in this area. Blow up the silver door on this terrace and you will find a red hat.
Fast Build
125,000
When you have 34 gold bricks, build a crate in front of the lighthouse from them. Now break it and build those bricks up. Now use the ships wheel to turn it into a lift and hop on. Ride it up and you will see the hat in a little alcove.
Treasure Magnet
225,000
On the beach, in the main port area where the level boards are, get enough gold bricks to build the sandcastle on the left hand side. Now, blow it up to reveal a red hat.
Breath Underwater
250,000
Under the pier that has the levels on it, there are three silver padlocks. Either use a cursed character, or go and find the coin near the lighthouse to become cursed, then blow at three padlocks for a hat.
Regenerate Hearts
275,000
On the beach, in the main port area where the level boards are, get enough gold bricks to build the sandcastle on the right hand side, then destroy it for the hat.
Red Hat Finder
300,000
Stand in front of the lighthouse and use the compass to find a red hat. When you find the x that marks the spot, a ring of red flowers will pop up. You must hit each one as quickly as you can to make them all disappear before any of them pop back up again. This will make the hat appear.
Minikit Bottle Finder
400,000
On the beach, opposite the level boards, there are three crabs running around. Follow one of them until it tires and you will be able to jump on it’s back. The red hat will appear the moment you do.
Extra Hearts
500,000
Underwater, near the level boards, on the left, there is a silver barrel underwater. Use a cursed character, or get the coin from near the lighthouse, and shoot the barrel. Now go onto the beach and turn the lever until the platforms are straight. Finally, use a female character to jump up on the platforms to pull two green levers.
Always Double Treasure
600,000
From the port, go to the left and through the gate. As you enter, you will see two cannons in the corner. Use either one of these and you will see three targets bobbing around in the water. Shoot all three to reveal the hat.
Invincibility
1,000,000
Use Blackbeard to break open the crate in the left hand corner of Tia Dalma’s hut.
Treasure x2
500,000
On the beach, opposite the level boards, there are five posts sticking out of the sand. Jump on each one in turn to make the Red Hat appear.
Treasure x4
1,000,000
Use Blackbeard to break open the door to the inn, on the left hand side of the port. In here, use Syrena to smash the fish tank at the back of the bar.
Treasure x6
1,500,000
In the left area of the port, near Tia Dalma’s hut, you will find well. There are three silver objects surrounding the well. Hit each one and the hat will appear in the well.
Treasure x8
2,000,000
In Tia Dalma’s Hut, walk towards the screen and you will find a small cage, on the right hand side. Destroy this and you will find the hat.
Treasure x10
2,500,000
When you have 34 gold bricks, you will be able to scale the lighthouse. Get to the very top and you will find a spyglass. Look through it and find the pirate on the island. Watch him as he digs for buried treasure. When he has made a few attempts you will have a hat appear next to you.
