Summary
The following is a list of various Exotic-Archetype starships discovered by different players during the Frontiers through current eras.
(For a list of all ship types, refer to the Starship Catalogue)
Description
All exotic ships are part of the S-class and will have top tier bonus values in all three categories. Their values range between 35-50% DMG, 55-60% Shield and 50-65% Hyperdrive range. Since the price is multiplied by slotsize and the exotic ships normally lack in that regard, their price range is a fair 10M-15M units. This makes them deadly specialists if one is lucky enough to find one.
While there are only two distinct types of exotic ships based on their cockpit, the community has come to differentiate visual classes with varying names. All of these classifications stem from the ship’s nose instead or its additional ornaments. While there seems to be no real consensus how to name them, there is a broad basis in each group.
Inventory
The inventory for Exotic ships are all in the small range of 15-20 (update to 25). Their tech limit is 4-6 slots.
Exotic Types
All exotic ships are part of one of two designs, either the squid or the ball (see below). Due to the equal chance of spawning an exotic and with only one per system, the many variations of the ball design seem to have caused the squid variant to be rather rare. With several special ornaments for the ball design, resulting in the Type-7 variant of either exotic type, the chance to find a squid type exotic is reduced even more.
NOTE: In some groups, the ship with tall upper fin also counts as its own «Tall» type.
Catalogues
The tables below are alphabetically sorted by galaxy, region, and ship name. If a ship lacks coordinates, enter them if possible. Ships that cannot be found and bought only serve a historic purpose.
Royal
Royal Type-7
The Royal exotic ship is one of three ball cockpit ships and is known for its prominent double nose. This ship design is presumable more common in Vy’keen systems.
It is available in limited colours of blue, red, orange, yellow and white/grey. Ships with golden or silver ornaments and the famous print of 7 on their top fin are also referred to as the elite Type-7. When seen on a Royal they are known as Royal Type-7.
Additional information
The front fuselage of the Royal (its long angular nose and ventral mounted lance) bears a resemblance to Spike Spiegel’s Swordfish II from the iconic anime Cowboy Bebop.

Ball Cockpit: Guppy
Guppy
The Guppy is one of three ball cockpit ships and its main feature is the lack of any nose.
While there are many variations of the Guppy, some more than others have gathered a following among No Man’s Sky players due to the elongated rear and other parts making it more closely resemble a fish. It doesn’t matter which one. It is available in limited colours of blue, red, orange, yellow and white/grey. Accent colours are either gold or silver.

Squid/Calamari
Squid
Unlike the many variations of the ball cockpit, the squid only comes with its signature tentacle nose and a wide array of colours and some shades. Despite this lack of customization, in regard to the many additions to the ball cockpit, this has become a rather rare design. Getting one in a desired color makes this all the more valuable. The tentacles are telescopic, and fold when landed. To better see the accent colour on tip of the tentacles, it’s best to view the ship during flight.

Exotic Variations
Exotic ships of ball cockpit type have several other features in addition to the three main types of no nose (guppy), small nose (mosquito) and big nose (royal).
Wings
The ball cockpit ships come with no wings or two wings. A combination of two wings and a large top fin is often called a tri-wing. The underside of the wings covered in solar panels can be seen while the ship is landed and its wings stand up in an angle. During flight the wings fold under the ship resembling a keel. There are mods to alter the position of the wings during flight, and even to animate them to flap like wings of a bird.
-
Guppy with ventral wing
-
Ventral wing folded open for landing. Note the exposed solar panels.
-
Moquito with fixed dorsal wing and folding ventral wing
-
Sometimes the ventral wing fails to fold after launch
Boosters and bottom fins
The ships with no wings have big, thick boosters or bottom fins with solar panels on both sides. The boosters open up in two halves when used and during hyperdrive. The bottom fins open their lids when the ship is landed, to charge their solar panels (no real effect in game).
-
Bottom fins closed
-

Top Fin
On top of the ball cockpit there’s either no fin, small fin or a large fin. Large fin resembles a wing in size and shape. The fin has decorations in either gold or silver, including circles, hexagons/honeycomb, double chevrons, acanthus ornament, and a small geometric picture plate with number 7 and perhaps a rising sun. The fin also has an underlined number 7 painted in red, which might make it hard to see in red ships.

Tail
Ball cockpit type exotics may have a large tail to completely encase its thruster, a narrow hood above the thruster, or no tail at all. The large tail opens up like a bird beak during flight.
Ships have two types of thrusters, big and small and they come in single or double sets. The big type of thruster is roughly thrice as long as the small one, and has a decorative ring in the accent colour of the ship, either gold or silver. The small thrusters are always black.

Those who play No Man’s Sky know finding S-Class ships is difficult, especially if players are looking for ones like Type-7 class Exotics. Finding them can be difficult unless someone knows where to look, and it can be frustrating to find one that is either too expensive or doesn’t have quite what the player is looking for. With all the game’s ambitious updates this year, it will take hours to get every Exotic S-Class ship.
From Royal class down to Mosquito class, these ships are well sought after. With a universe as large as No Man’s Sky, it’s no wonder that there are various YouTube videos, posts, wikis, and other resources waiting to lend a helping hand. While this guide will not encompass all the S-Class ships in No Man’s Sky, as there are a lot, it does point out a few that are interesting in name, storage capacity capability, and tech size.
Updated September 13, 2021 by Beau Boo Low: The new Frontiers update for No Man’s Sky has added many new features to spice up the randomly generated planets, including indigenous settlements. Naturally, if players want to explore the graphically enhanced and constantly expanding universe this game offers they will need a ship. It is very common to collect more than one ship over the course of the game, and some of the best ships worth collecting are exotic S-class vessels. These spaceships come in a variety of shapes and sizes, with many possessing useful tech that will allow players to cruise the cosmos with ease. This article has been updated to include more exotic S-class ships and helpful tips on how to find them.
How To Find Exotic S-Class Ships
All exotic ships are in the S-class, and as such, comprise many of the best vessels in the game. Finding these spacecraft is not easy, as they are scattered across many different systems. Given the procedural nature of the game, there are no locations where a player is guaranteed to find one.
S-class ships are more likely to spawn in 3-star systems such as those with descriptors like Opulent or Advanced. In order to determine the wealth of particular system, players will need to own an economy scanner. Ships within a given system will often have the same color scheme which can be helpful if players are looking for a particular paint job. Often new vessels can be found by visiting space stations or trading posts. If no ships land, then saving and reloading the game can often make new ones spawn.
The Four Types Of Exotic Ship And How To Find Them
-
Royal-style ships
have ball cockpits and bi-furcated double noses. Often found in Vy’keen systems -
Guppy-Style ships
have gall cockpits with no nose. Some varieties have elongated rears to look more like fish. -
Mosquito-style ships
are the final variety of exotic class ships with a ball cockpit. They are identifiable by their single, long thin nose. -
Squid/Calamari-style ships
have a wide variety of different cockpits and distinctive tentacle noses. These are incredibly valuable ships due to their rarity. The telescopic tentacles will fold up when landed.
19 The OL6 Naratsu
While fighter class ships and frigates are often better suited for combat, this exotic squid style ship comes with a rocket launcher already installed. The formidable armaments on the OL6 Naratsu are complemented by strong shields and good maneuverability.

As well as all of these slots, the ship also comes with the Efficient Thrusters module. It may be necessary to grind up some units for purchasing this ship, as it costs 11,000,000 to buy.
The Void Dancer was released in the Origins expansion and can be found in the Euclid galaxy. To find it, players will need to locate the Atlas Panics star system in the Yipiorunnr band. The exact coordinates for this area are 06A3:0080:0149:003F.
13 The Forge Of The Horizon
The Forge of the Horizon is a mosquito-style ship with a powerful sting thanks to its Fourier De-limiter, which enhances the power of its phase beams. This upgrade makes the Forge a reasonably powerful combat vehicle, with its small size making it easier to dodge enemy attacks.
Released in the Expedition update, this ship can be located in the Euclid Galaxy. To find it, simply travel to the Kedargy-Sany system in the Teteshun Terminus region; the Galactic coordinates are 0DE4:007E:0B03:000D. Be prepared to pay up to 12,000,000 units for this compact and maneuverable fighter.
12 Bandaira’s Ruthless Wings
Squid-style ships are some of the most visually interesting designs in No Man’s Sky. This ship is very rare, with only a 2% chance of spawning within the Odalvi XVIII system within the Euclid galaxy.
If players are lucky enough to find one, they will enjoy its high number of slots for adding new modules, as well as its superb maneuverability. Bandaira’s Ruthless Wings is most likely to be found in a Space Station or a Trade Outpost, selling for 5-12 million units. Players will be able to recognize it by its red chassis with purple-tipped tentacles.
11 The Geometric Defeat
This stylish, red, Royal ship was added in the latest Prisms update. Players will find this ship great for escaping space pirates or other hostile encounters, thanks to its free Emergency Warp Unit. This module allows players to escape any dangerous situation by instantly warping to a random unknown location.
To find the Geometric Defeat, travel to the Waferganh galaxy and set a course for the Eoktisshi Band. At galactic coordinates 0CD3:0079:031A:0045, players will arrive at the Nuning-Toriy star system, where this ship can be purchased for 12,000,000 units.

It was released in the CrossPlay update in which multi-player functionality was given a boost.
6 Uenohero’s Ruthless Auditor
Another Guppy-style ship, this Exotic S-Class is found at coordinates 0AC7:007E:01E5:0172, which is within the Euclid Galaxy’s Hinerva region. Specifically, the ship is on a space station in the Auragiu I star system.
Uenohero’s Ruthless Auditor has an inventory cargo space of 20 slots, a tech slot space of six slots, and costs 12 million credits to buy outright. This ship was released with the ExoMech update and comes pre-loaded with the modules emergency warp unit and Fourier de-limiter (a module that augments phase beams that stack with phase beam upgrades).
5 Miyama’s Visionary Last Laugh
Miyama’s Visionary Last Laugh can be found in the Ewcomechio Galaxy, specifically the Jelmon Expanse region. Its coordinates are 07F7:0080:0800:00F1, landing the ship in the Zakish-Decit star system.
This Exotic S-Class Guppy-style ship was released with the Living Ship update that came out earlier this year. It comes already pre-loaded with the launch system recharger module in one of its cargo slots to help players reserve resources. To buy this ship outright, it is 12 million credits.
4 The Son of the Stars
The Son of the Stars comes already pre-loaded with ablative armor and launch system recharger modules in its cargo slots and can only be found in the permadeath game mode. This is a Mosquito-style S-Class ship that holds 20 inventory cargo slots, six tech slots, and costs 12.5 million credits to purchase.
The Son of the Stars can be found at the coordinates 0800:007F:07F7:005E in the Euclid Galaxy, which is in the Kitashle XIX star system found in the Eaglav Cluster region. It was released with the Synthesis update.
3 Anvil of the Oranoyam
This Mosquito-style Exotic S-Class ship already comes pre-loaded with the rocket launcher and efficient thrusters modules. It has an inventory cargo space of 20 slots, a tech slot space of six, and costs 12 million credits to buy outright. This ship was released with the Synthesis update.
The Anvil of the Oranoyam can be found in the Euclid Galaxy’s Whishi Shallows region. It is in the Niigata-Dam star system at the galactic coordinates 09B5:007F:03DA:002F. It has a high stat for maneuverability, which is not surprising given its size.
2 Noyamey’s Deadly Regret
Squid-style Exotic S-Class ships are highly sought after, and getting one in a color that players want is even more of a task. This rare design makes it difficult for players to find one right away and takes a bit of work.
This particular one can be found in the Euclid Galaxy within the Sea of Ioruach region’s Esennu star system. It is on a space station at the coordinates 0763:007B:0847:0138. This ship costs 12 million credits, has 20 inventory slots and six tech slots, and comes pre-loaded with efficient thrusters and a rocket launcher. It was released with the Beyond update.
1 The Song of Destiny
Another Squid-style released in the Beyond update, this Exotic S-Class comes pre-loaded with efficient thrusters and a phase beam module already on board in its cargo slots that are available to start. The Song of Destiny has 20 slots of inventory space for cargo and costs 12 million credits to buy outright.
Should players find this color combination appealing and choose to go looking for it, The Song of Destiny can be found at the coordinates 0673:007E:0625:0060 in the Ontiniangp Galaxy within the Nuviit Cluster region’s Myanji-Gegru star system.
