After weeks of error-free use my hack won’t boot anymore and it’s getting stuck on «USBMSC Identifier (non-unique)», i’ve tried Graphics enabler boot flags, -x -s -f, nothing seems to work, i’m booting from USB using clover bootloader, i removed all my USBs and left barely anything connected, i can’t pin this down, the error also happens when i restore my time machine back up so all of my data is useless until i find a way to bypass this. Any help?

Just a follow up if people go through same issue, apparently enabling trim is the reason, i’ll have to live without it, something about disabling the new kext signing security that messes everything up.

I use Chameleon SSD Optimizer, it’s free and it works fine with Yosemite and Clover — Link.
make sure you have selected kext-dev-mode=1 in Clover Boot options.

Thanks for the reply.
I did try Chameleon SSD Optomizer but it asks for disabling kext signing, i select yes, reboot try to enable trim and it asks for disabling kext signing again and again.

That’s why you have to use kext-dev-mode=1

I booted with kext-dev-mode=1, enabled Trim successfully then i rebooted and my VoodooHDA started making static/white noise so i reinstalled the audio driver and modified the iGain to 0 inside voodooHDA kext (This is what i usually do to make the white noise disappear) and the computer got stuck again after rreboot on USBMSC Identifier, i guess its not gonna work for me, at least now i know what initiates the error so that’s something good out of trying. Luckily i had a time machine backup prior making system wide changes. Thanks for the help!

Is it possible to keep a backup of non-patched IOAHCIFamily.kext on my Clover bootable USB and use it on boot incase something else triggers this error since everything i do that has to deal with this kext is causing the same error and now im hesitant to install any driver except Audio and Network.

I encountered this issue while upgrading to Yosemite, on a «Customac 2010» Gigabyte X58A-UD3R build.
On verbose boot I would hang at «USBMSC Identifier (non-unique)», pause for around 15 seconds, then have «Still waiting for root device» repeatedly shown.
Removing «Trim Enabler > 10.10.x TRIM Patch» from Multibeast allowed me to boot successfully. I then re-enabled TRIM using Chameleon SSD Optimizer, and everything seems to be fine.
For Trim enabler to work I had to use their «Yosemite and kext sign control» instructions here: http://chameleon.alessandroboschini.com/faq.php

I’m facing same problem..i can’t boot to my yosemite usb on my vostro 3350 and getting same error message. How do you remove the trim setting in multibeast? I’ve no other working system. Do I need to creat other yosemite boot usb drive? Pls help me. Tq.

Hello at all!
I’ve installed Yosemite 10.10.5 from Apple Store with pandora’s box.
After install I’ve put the amd kernel (Bronya kernel_10.10.5_rc4), system.kext and the other amd kext and I’ve installed fakesmc, voodoohda, etc etc with pandora’s post install. Permission repaired, kernel prelinked done.
I’ve installed enoch in Efi partition with common boot flags.
But… I receive stuck on usbmsc identifier (non-unique)!
Con you help me?

could you write your hardware specification. further take all USB hardware that are not necessary for the boot for yosemite out from the USB slots and try to boot again. alternatively upload their config.plist or org.chameleon.boot.plist and the Extensions folder of Extra folder or the 10.10 folder from clover.

With your extra my system boot, but when I remove nv_disable my system is very unstable and lagged. And… I don’t have lan network.

please open dpcimanager.app or systeminfo.app and check the built-in ethernet card maybe you need a different driver
uploade the images in which you can read the hardware vendor and device-id

The card is rtl8111, work oob in Mavericks and El Capitan. But with Yosemite I have this problem…

Yes and yes, no luck! This system with El Capitan and Mavericks is ok… But with this 10.10.5… No luck!

If yes I’m not sure what else to suggest. Is the network set to auto config?

On el capitan and mavericks works oob.
The eth is in dhcp mode.
But the system says cable disconnect…
I tested various version of rtl8111 kext, removed the en0 on system prefs, reboot, recreate en0… no luck! 
When the icon glitchs in el capitan with fx is resolved I’ll trash yosemite!
Now I can use Mavericks only…

I havent received my graphics card yet. Will be getting it tomorrow.
I will try once to see if I4600 works, if not I’ll wait till tomorrow and will try .. That should be a sure shot

IF its work with the hd4600!
Tomorrow with the Graphics Cards you just need to used this boot plist before shut down pc and insert the Graphics cards

I really dont understand why you have problems with this specs I have the same specs last week and I Installing
may be 30 time with this Installer

I think I’ve installed in PCI Slot 2 .. not sure … it seemed like the 2nd one ..
Reset the BIOS .. changed to Memory profile 1 .. Display to PCI Slot 2…
Installed file ..
When trying to boot ..it is struck @ _ (underscore) kinda bliking.
I tried to boot from flash drive and select HDD .. its not going in..
Note: I’ve observed that VT -d is Enabled in my BIOS and it is locked, I am not able to change it.

Note: I used to have a HDMI switcher to my monitor. I suspected that and put a direct connection. It passed the USBMSC error … said some wired stuff ..
Now the whole thing crashed…
System uptime in Nanoseconds error …
Let me reinstall with these settings you’ve mentioned ???

Hallo,
ich habe mir jetzt ein neues System zugelegt und erfolgreich Yosemite installiert.
Alles bis auf den Sound lief prima.
Nachdem ich dann ALC1150 installiert hatte, kam die Meldung mit dem usbmsc identifier (non-unique).
Eine USB 3.0 Festplatte war auch angeschlossen, als es zum ersten geschah.
Es kam die Meldung, dass der Festplatte nicht genug Strom (400mA) zugeführt werden können.
Erwähne das, weil ich irgendwo von einem USB 3.0 Problem las. Jedoch kam die Meldung auch ohne die Festplatte. Auch ohne das Bluetooth USB Modul.Ich komme ins System per -f -F.
Gibt es eine Möglichkeit den Ursprünglichen Zustand wiederherzustellen bzw. das Problem zu beseitigen?
Ansonsten würde ich Yosemite, nächstes mal dann mit MyHack statt mit UniBeast installieren.Das Umbenennen vom AppleHDA und das deaktivieren des HDAEnablers hat nichts gebracht.
Der Fehler kam aber erst nach der Installation des Kexts mit MultiBeast.

Der Fehler hat nichts mit der AppleHDA oder dem HDAEnabler zu tun und ist auch eigentlich kein Fehler im eigentlichen Sinne sondern eher ein Hinweis
Wenn Du mit -F durch booten kannst, dann bedeutet das, dass irgendein kext im cache ist, der die Funktion der USB Ports nachhaltig einschränkt. Hast Du auch irgendwelche Kexte für USB installiert zum Beispiel den GenericUSBXHCI.kext falls ja hast Du schon den Schuldigen für das Verhalten gefunden.

Ok, im Moment habe ich entweder einen Kernel Panic oder das System friert mir auf der Benutzeroberfläche ein. Ich denke eine Neuinstallation ist fällig, oder?
Edit: Bin jetzt mit -x -f drin.
Ich hatte noch ein MB Profil von jemand anderem übernommen. Aber da ist nichts mit USB.
GenericUSBXHCI.kext habe ich auch nicht in SLE gefunden. -

So bin wieder zurück mit dem selben Problem.
Ich habe erst einmal das Mainboard gewechselt, da ich einen Z97 haben wollte.
Den habe ich mit Ozmosis geflashed und Yosemite installiert.Dem NVRAM habe ich auch bearbeitet.
Nun habe ich die Multibeast App geöffnet um darin die 1150 zu installieren.
Nach dem Neustart stehe ich wieder vor USBMSC Identifier.
Ist das überhaupt der richtige weg um die Kexte zu installieren, weil Multibeast selbst sagt, dass ein Ordner fehlt.
Edit: Ich habe einen NVRAM reset durchgeführt. Alt + Windows Taste + P + R.
So jetzt das ganze nochmal.
Edit2: Ich habe deine Anleitung gesehen und gemerkt, dass ich einiges nicht durchgeführt habe, bei der Installation:
- /sbin/fsck -fy //sbin/mount -uw /
- chown -R 0:0 /Volumes/»OS X Base System»/kext
- chmod -R 755 /Volumes/»OS X Base System»/kext
- cp /Volumes/»OS X Base System»/kext/*.kext /System/Library/Extensions/
- kextload /System/Library/Extensions/FakeSMC.kext
- touch /System/Library/Extensions/ exit
Diese Schritte dürften aber nicht mehr wichtig sein, da ich ja alles schon installiert habe, oder?
Das NVRAM habe ich aber beschrieben, so wie du es im Code zu stehen hast.

hast du denn den FakeSMC.kext installiert?
Kannst du mal versuchen, innerhalb des Kexts die Plugins (Rechte Maustaste -> Paketinhalt zeigen -> Unterordner Plugins) zuerst zu entfernen, dann neu zu starten und falls das dann funktioniert, die FakeSMC.kext mit den Plugins erneut zu installieren. -

FakeSMC habe ich eben installiert. Dazu noch HWMoniter. Funktioniert.
Jetzt bleiben noch Audio und Grafik. Muss man noch andere Kexte installieren, wie SATA oder USB 3.0?Ich verstehe nicht, warum der ALC1150 Kext so ein Problem verursacht.

Das kann dir ein Blick in den Systembericht (Apple-Logo -> Über diesen Mac -> «Systembericht» im folgenden Fenster anklicken) sagen…
Ich glaube nicht, dass es am Audio-Chip liegt.
hast du aktuell den USBMSC Fehler noch?
Musst du immer noch mit -x und -f starten?Welchen Bootloader nutzt du eigentlich?
Hast du das Boot-Argument USBBusFix=Yes mal versucht? -

Ich kann den Fehler reproduzieren, indem ich halt wieder den ALC1150 installiere.
Mittlerweile habe ich ja Ozmosis und da muss ich dann den NVRAM resetten, um wieder OSX starten zu können.Ich habe auch einmal den Extension Ordner mit dem auf dem Installationsstick ersetzen müssen. Danach konnte ich den NVRAM wieder mit folgendem beschreiben:
- sudo nvram 7C436110-AB2A-4BBB-A880-FE41995C9F82:boot-args=»dart=0 kext-dev-mode=1″
USB 3.0 und SATA scheinen in Ordnung zu sein.
Unter Grafik/Monitore wird die Grafikkarte erkannt. Muss man GraphicsEnabler=No auch etwa in den NVRAM schreiben?Kann man den USBBusFix auch in den NVRAM schreiben?

Bei Ozmosis brauchst du weder den GraphicsEnabler, noch den USBFIx Eintrag setzen.
Ich gehe dann auch davon aus, dass du nicht mehr mit -x und -f starten musst.
-x führt nämlich gerne dazu, dass die Grafikfehler aus deinem anderen Post auftauchen, da nicht alle Kexte geladen werden.Lass mich mal schnell was mit dem ALC1150 Dingens prüfen…
Hast du den ALC1150 Kext so installiert?

dann liegt das /Extra Verzeichnis noch bei dir im Root-Ordner…
Gibt es darin auch einen Ordner Extensions?
Wenn ja, den Inhalt des Ordners hier mal posten (Screenshot)Vielleicht liegt da noch was drinnen, was dir in die Suppe spuckt…

Also ich habe es einfach gewagt, beides zu installieren.
OSX startet wie gewohnt. Unter Systeminfo sieht man auch mehr Infos über die Anschlüsse.
Nur kann ich trotzdem nichts hören und ich den Lautstärkeregler lässt sich nicht bedienen.Einen Extra Ordner habe ich nicht in /.
Nach dem Flashen mit Ozmosis, habe ich ja OSX neu installiert.
Was ist mit HDAEnabler, ist der nicht auch für Audio zuständig?

Mein Screenshot kam von einem Laptop der an einen FullHD-Monitor angebunden war, deswegen auch 2 Monitor Informationen…
Aber eigentlich sieht die Einstellung sauber aus.Würdest du bitte aus dem Download Center mal den DPCI Manager herunterladen und vom Status Fenster ein Screenshot hier posten?

Es besteht die Möglichkeit, dass deine DSDT im Ozmosis die Framebuffer Infos der HD4600 aus deinem CPU nicht 1:1 drinnen stehen hat, sodass es hierbei zu diesem Phänomen kommt.
Ich würde «schnell» mal die DSDT aus deinem Ozmosis File extrahieren und nachschauen… Augenblick

In deinem 2. Post hast du den Link zu deiner Ozmosis Version eingebaut. Hast du tatsächlich die Z97M-D3H-F5-OZM-894m.rom.zip heruntergeladen?
Oder doch eher die Z97MD3H-F5-OZM-DSDT-G-1479.rom.zip???Die Ozm 894m ist die Vorgängerversion und die Ozm 1479 die Aktuellere… das könnte auch schon helfen…

usbmsc identifier (non-unique)
I got Mac OS X Yosemite to install onto my SSD on my Chromebook. (Specs: https://www.cnet.com/products/acer-chromebook-c740-c4pe-11-6-celeron-3205u-4-gb-ram-16-gb-ssd-us/specs/) now I get stuck on usbmsc identifier (non-unique). I read that this is not a problem with a USB since it is not an error. I read somewhere that it is a graphics problem. not sure what to do now D:
