How do i REMOVE the Warning! System requirements not met problem in the witcher

So basically the «System requirements not met problem» In The Witcher EE or normal has caused alot of people problems There is an way to bypass it but that doesn’t let the textures get maxed out Here are some few examples INSIDE View 1 Without bypass http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/585/16040216.jpg/ View 1 With bypass http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/94/view2.png/ View 2 Without bypass http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/688/41977561.jpg/ View 2 With bypass http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/51/77127534.png/ Food Without bypass http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/8/foodl.jpg/ Food With bypass http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/27/foodee.png/ Outside http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/7/outsidejx.png/ Also i think that the System requirment check is a kind of a drm that should be removed So anyone know how to remove the check?

tommy5761

For starters the system requirement check isn`t DRM of any kind it`s simply checking to see if the requirements are met and it generally occurs with laptops where there is no plug and play video cardLaptop cards are not the same as with their desktop cousins…you can have the same card number but they are not the same . Nowhere near as many cores or pipes and if they drew as much power as a desktop your battery would be drained in a matter of minutes. If your laptop has Optimus software …two video cards in your laptop one card would be Nvidia and the other card would be an Intel HD card which you have to tell the laptop which card is used for software and which card is used for gaming . There was a problem recently with the Optimus software in which it would not switch cards as it was supposed to . But the latest 270.61 verde drivers seemed to finally fix that issue .

Your right about the Drm part, But like drm It shouldn’t be there in the first placeand my laptop doesn’t have 2 video cards so thats not the problem i am trying to remove the system reqi can bypass and play it but as you saw above what the problem is

tommy5761

Yep i saw and to be quite frank the Intel gma is what it is . Which is very little in the way of «cards» . It just doesn`t have the cores or shader capabilities to do a very good job of playing the game . To be honest i`m surprised that it even plays the game at all . Which is why the system requirement check is there .

I am not here to argue about the system req i know the card isn’t exactly up to par. Instead i am looking for a way to remove the system check

tommy5761

To my knowledge there is no way to remove it .

DelighfulMcCoy

Just out of curiosity: do you want to play TW2 on the same laptop with which you made those pictures of TW1 with the sysreq removed? Or did I get something mixed up here and these are merely examples from another computer? Because when you have that bad graphics on that oooold engine, what would you get with a modern game? Aside from an exploding laptop. ;)

You didn’t read my orignal postsee the pictures, i can bypass the check but that causes a problem which is that the textures can’t be changed from low to high, while everything is high and the textures low the game looks well frankly horriblesee the comparision i put up

Well, the developers are not goig to patch a game going on 4 years old and nobody here is going to hack the executable just to handle a special case so rare you are the only one complaining about it, so what you have is all you are going to get.You haven’t registered your game, either, which means these forums cannot provide any volunteer technical assistance to you until you have done so.

How can you tell if someone has registered their game?

put the mouse over the avatar and look to the right side, if you have registered the game should have a witchers medallion.

The next step would be to get your system configuration and any error reports that the game itself made.If the game reported any errors, they would be in a file named ERRLOG.TXT.Most of the techies here are familiar with PCWizard, so if you could get PCWizard and run a report, that’s the other thing you can do that would help us.Attach the PCWizard report and any ERRLOG.TXT file, and we’ll see what we can make out of them.(If the PCWizard report is too long, you can make a zipfile out of it and attach that.)

well what do you think?

I agree with the OP.These system-check sub-routines are notoriously inaccurate, especially for DTR gaming notebooks, many of which have been overclocked to a fair-thee-well. A warning may be OK to protect the developer from complaints, but the user should be able to select «play anyway» with all bells and whistles available to try.

you’re lucky it works anyway, this video card is not a gaming one, you can barely use office suites, watch movies and surf the web.We can’t add in software what your laptop lacks in hardware.

yep, sometimes, but not now

Note to self.  To install Witcher and bypass the minimum system requirements check:

Move to the witcher installation folder.

Find the file called witcher.exe.

Make a shortcut to this file.  The location is up to you, I chose the desktop.

Right click on the shortcut and select properties.

Add the little part below at the end of the Target property:
-dontForceMinReqs

Example:
“C:GOG GamesThe Witcher Enhanced Edition Director’s CutSystemwitcher.exe” -dontForceMinReqs.

That’s all you need to skip the warning check.  I just did it and watched the opening cinematic.  Then I wrote this for my future self and now I will return to play.  This tip should work for Witcher if you buy it from Steam or from GOG.  I am doing the install on Windows 7, the trick should work to bypass the system requirements check on Windows 8 and other versions too.

Another not: I installed this on a Macbook Pro through Bootcamp.  I have the retail edition of Witcher and I chose to install with GOG because it comes with the free update and is DRM free.  I’m really looking forward to playing and love the dark atmosphere so far.  A good day.

If you see an error message stating the minimum system requirements of The Witcher on your computer, you should check out these recovery methods.

    To get Windows:
To work around this problem, go to the game folder: (…) The Witcher System witcher.exe and create a shortcut with Hexer zu.exe.
right click any shortcut and go to its properties. In the Target text box next to the policy type:
    -dontForceMinReqs
There must be a space between this path and the switch, like here:

    witcher minimum system requirements error

I don’t know why I am getting this error. Twelve months later, I got a new laptop. I know a laptop is not your average high-powered laptop, but the game was originally released in 2008. I tried to find a solution in other threads but couldn’t understand a word of what they were talking about, it all sounded like gibberish if I read it out loud. I tried GOG despite the same problem. I did follow the instructions from one of those dedicated support articles that were easier to use, but the game never opened. I won’t get an error, but I will definitely look at my desktop. I am currently working on getting a refund for the whole group, So I would rather not go back and get it back.

I would be grateful to everyone who can help launch the game on Steam normally.

This will prevent me from getting started outside of strong steam. They say there is a “application flow of these errors”

Steam is a dominant gaming client, however, many users reported a pesky error that appears especially in connection with the Sunset Overdrive game.

Apparently, Steam thinks that the system does not meet minimum requirements. Obvisously, this is not always the case, which makes the case even more puzzling and frustrating.

Your system might meet the minimum requirements or even exceed them, but this doesn’t stop the Steam client from giving out this error.

Where can I encounter this error and what to expect?
